Vehicle inspection

Owners of vehicles that are all the time located in Hrísey, Grímsey or Flatey in Breiðafjörður can apply for an exemption from the inspection requirement. If the application is approved, they will thereby be granted exemption from the inspection requirement (become registered island vehicles).

If the vehicle is moved to the mainland, the exemption will expire, and the vehicle shall be immediately re-entered for periodic checks at the nearest inspection body.
