Cohabitation breakdown

Request for termination of cohabitation

Interview

An interview is conducted by the District Commissioner or his legal representative, who shall provide information on the legal rules that are necessary in the case of termination of cohabitation. The parents' positions on custody, domicile and child support are recorded at the meeting.

Parents can either attend an interview together or separately. If one parent chooses to attend alone, the other is called for an interview at a later date. Interviews may be conducted by telephone or teleconference.

It is permissible to have someone with them for an interview, but parents must agree on who is present.

You can request that the interview be conducted in English, but if you need an interpreter, you must provide one yourself.
