If parents agree on custody of the child/children, legal domicile and child support, the District Commissioner shall issue a confirmation regarding termination of cohabitation and send a notification of changed legal domicile to the National Registry of Iceland.
Anyone who is unable to provide a change of legal domicile at the time of the hearing must send his or her notification to the National Registry of Iceland himself or herself. It can be done electronically.
The District Commissioner may refuse to confirm a contract on legal domicile and child support if he/she considers the agreement to be contrary to the interests and needs of the child/children.
