Payment participation in technical aids

Iceland Health pays or participates in the purchase of necessary medical aids according to certain rules. There are various equipment in a vehicle that is necessary for the disability of the driver or for the wheelchair passenger in a vehicle.

An example of a grant is for:

• Automatic transmissions

• Special modifications to braking and acceleration

• Wheelchair user fixed ramp/car lift

You must apply for an assistive device in a car on the assistive device application form and fill out a checklist.

Individuals applying for assistive devices in cars may also be entitled to a supplement/grant for the purchase of a car from the Social Security Administration.
