Payment contributions for domestic travel costs
Haemodialysis
Regular trips of up to 60 km are facilitated during hemodialysis treatment for as long as the trip is completed at least twice a week and the applicant is unable to drive a car or use public transport for his/her health.
95% of the cost of agreed efficient journeys by taxi is paid for. The applicant shall seek the most economical route and conclude a payment contract with the taxi driver for the above-mentioned journeys. Iceland Health may request a copy of the contract.
Application process
To be reimbursed for travel costs:
Doctor or midwife, if applicable, apply for reimbursement of travel costs

- The form completed by a doctor or midwife
- Taxi receipts
- Summary of arrivals from therapistThe applicant sends all documents to his/her hometown, and the authorization is to forward them to Iceland Health if necessary.
