Mediation in child-related disputes

Agreement in mediation

Parents may enter into an agreement during the mediation process and request that the District Commissioner confirm an agreement on custody, domicile or access.

During the mediation process you may also agree on cases involving custody or domicile, visitation or per diem fines shall be dropped by the District Commissioner.

Parents have more influence on the outcome of the case in mediation than other ways and the agreement is based on what parents consider acceptable and fair. The parents' agreement may cover aspects that are not legally required to decide on in a court or ruling.
