To apply for a child pension, you need different documents depending on the reason for the application.

Pensioner's child pension / Disability grant child pension

  • If the child lives with you, you do not need to submit data.

  • In the case of a dual residence for a child, a confirmation from the district commissioner is required or a declaration of (pdf in icelandic) must be submitted.

  • If child support is paid without the involvement of TR, one of the following documents must be submitted:

    • child support agreement showing that you are liable for child support with the child in question,

    • receipts, which prove maintenance, such as payments to a provider with whom a child has legal residence,

    • declaration of a child.

Child pension due to death

  • If the death is confirmed in the National Registry, no documentation must be submitted.

  • If the death is not confirmed in the National Registry, for example if the death takes place abroad, a death certificate must be submitted.

  • As appropriate, the return of the child's birth certificate may be necessary.

Child pensions not yet granted

  • If a child was conceived by artificial fertilisation, confirmation must be submitted by the company which carried out the fertilisation.

  • If it has not been possible to father a child, confirmation of this is required from the district commissioner or the courts.

Child support pension due to forfeiture

  • Confirmation from the State Prison and Probation Administration on the duration of the sentence.
