Sunbed use of children aged 12-17 in 2023
Results from a new Gallup survey show that around 8% of children aged 12-17 went to tanning beds once or more in 2023. This result does not differ significantly from the last survey conducted amongst the same age group, which was in 2016. The age limit for using tanning beds in Iceland has been 18 years since 2011. The reason for this is that using tanning beds increases the risk of skin cancer and the risk is greater for children and young people than for adults.
