Process for assessing a nursing home pre-admission application.

  • The person involved, or someone closely related, fills out an application for a nursing home pre-admission assessment. If necessary, social workers, nurses, or general physicians can assist in preparing the application.

  • The application must be sent to the nursing home pre-admission assessment committee in the health region where the person is legally domiciled. The application includes authorisation for the committees to obtain the necessary data and information from health and social services.

  • Once the committee has received the application, the process begins.

  • For the committee to conclude, the assessment must be available and performed by a healthcare professional familiar with the person in question. In addition, it is based on certain defined information from health and social services, the physicians concerned, or medical institutions, as applicable.

  • The committee is responsible for obtaining this data. As a general rule, the conclusion is reached in four weeks.

  • The assessment result is presented to the applicant in writing, and a copy is sent to the general physician, home care, social services, and the regional office for people with disabilities, if applicable.

  • Before moving to a nursing home, a request for a nursing home pre-admission assessment must be available, as well as the assessment, an application for a nursing home, and the allocation.

Note: If the individual does not accept the committee's conclusions, they may refer the conclusion to the Minister of Welfare, cf—article 26 of the Administrative Procedures Act.
