Key Healthcare Indicators

-Automatic translation

Key Healthcare Indicators are essential measurements that provide an overview of a particular area at any given time and over time. The publication aims to facilitate access to indicators that provide evidence of certain critical aspects of healthcare in Iceland and how they compare to neighbouring countries. The key healthcare indicators will be updated annually to indicate trends over time.

Indicators defined by the OECD and based on evidence-based knowledge were selected. A limited number of key indicators were selected, or 34 key indicators, and they are divided into three main categories. The categories are:

  1. Investment in healthcare

  2. Access and Prevention

  3. Performance and quality of healthcare

The office hopes that the publication of Key Healthcare Indicators will support health authorities' decision-making to maximise the service's effectiveness and quality.
