Initial inspection

Request for inspection on vessel or equipment

If there is any difference between the Icelandic and the English text, the Icelandic version is valid.

Before the ship is put into service, a general or initial survey, comprising 5 different inspections, in which inspection of equipment and workmanship of the ship's construction, will be conducted. The ship may undergo other inspections dependant on size, area of operation or the certificates required. Initial survey shall be carried out by the Icelandic Transport Authority and inspectors of the Authority decide which inspections are appropriate for the ship at any given time.
