Health promotion and prevention in policymaking

The approach proposes that the school's policy includes prevention and health promotion, which enables upper secondary schools to set a clear strategy and to sharpen action plans and prevention.

The strategy was developed in consultation with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Welfare, and the Union of Icelandic Upper Secondary School Students.

Lists of criteria are developed by a steering committee. However, the criteria are also developed in collaboration with the schools and have been reviewed by administrators in upper secondary schools.

All upper secondary schools in Iceland participate in the project. The leading school of this work is Flensborg in Hafnarfjörður.
