The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) establishes international standards and recommendations for aviation safety and operations, known as Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs). These requirements are published in Annexes and other related documents.
Iceland is a Member State of ICAO and is committed to implementing and enforcing these requirements in accordance with its obligations under the Chicago Convention.
Within the European Economic Area (EEA), ICAO standards are to a large extent implemented through European Union aviation regulations. This regulatory framework is developed and maintained by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and includes both binding and non-binding material, such as Regulations, Certification Specifications (CS), Acceptable Means of Compliance (AMC), and Guidance Material (GM).
The Icelandic Transport Authority is responsible for the implementation and oversight of this regulatory framework in Iceland. Applicable EASA regulations, standards, and guidance material are available on the EASA website, and the Icelandic Transport Authority refers to them in accordance with its role.
ICAO documents, including Annexes and manuals, are subject to ICAO copyright and are therefore not published by ICETRA. Where relevant, reference is made to the appropriate ICAO publications.
