Application for renewal of driver’s licenses for those aged 65 and older is now on Ísland.is

It is now possible to apply for the renewal of a driver’s license for those aged 65 and older on Ísland.is. After completing the application, a medical certificate from a family doctor is submitted to the district commissioner, and the driving rights are renewed.
Please note that plastic licenses cannot be produced until February. For more details, see the news on Sýslumenn.is.
This application simplifies the application process for customers and speeds up the process and service. Once the application is completed, the applicant or a relative can submit the medical certificate to the district commissioner, and there is no need to apply in person. Note that in cases where a passport photo is required, the applicant must appear in person to submit the photo and signature sample.
