According to the regulation on allocation of catch quota for lumpfish to newcomers the definition of a newcomer is as follows:

• A newcomer is defined a person who owns a vessel, that does not have a registered catch share and has not been allocated a catch share or was not entitled to a catch share in lumpfish for the fishing year 2025/2026.

Otherwise, the regulation on lumpfish fishing and other relevant laws and regulations apply to newcomers in lumpfish fishing. Applications should be sent to the email address fiskistofa@fiskistofa.is and the application deadline is 4th of May 2026.

The following information must be included in the application:

• Name, social security number and legal address of the applicant.

• Fishing vessel (name and ship registration number) for which the catch quota is requested to be registered.

• In which regional fishing area the fishing vessel will fish.
