Applications for exemptions from the rules on the length, width, height, total weight and axle weight of a vehicle may be submitted to the Icelandic Transport Authority. If exempted transports are frequent within a certain area, and in special cases between areas, a long-term exemption may be issued.
Each application is evaluated each time, but no long-term exemption is given for transportation that requires police approval.
Long-term exemptions can be valid from one month up to one year. In other respects, the same rules apply as to other exemptions. See further here.
