Payment participation in air ambulance services

Conditions for grant:

• There must be an urgent need for transporting a person to a hospital or from a hospital to his/her home or place of stay

• Patient health cannot be transported by normal passenger and transport routes

A person transported by air ambulance pays a fixed fixed fee.

Patient's companion

If an companion is necessary, Iceland Health contribute to the cost of the companion´s fare, even if it is a regular service. If accompaniment by a healthcare practitioner is necessary, the fare and remuneration shall be paid.

Iceland Health pays the companion's fare. You are only paid for follow-up if the doctor deems it necessary.

Ambulance between hospitals

In the case of inter-hospital medical transport, the hospital sending the patient pays the cost.
