Dismissal of Staff
In the case of redundancies, there are certain laws and regulations which apply to the dismissal process.
Dismissal of Staff
- The term of notice is the period that must pass from the date that the termination takes effect until the date that the employee leaves.
- The length of the notice period is determined by the length of employment and/or the age of the employee. The notice period is generally one to three months, but may be longer or shorter according to the provisions of the applicable collective wage agreement.
- The employee is required to work out the full notice period, unless otherwise agreed with the employer.
Collective redundancy
- In the event of collective redundancies, the employer shall, as soon as possible, consult with the confidential representative or other employee representatives.
- The employer must notify the proposed redundancies to the regional employment office of the Directorate of Labour, in the district where the employees work.
