Victims of sexual violence

The hospitals in Akureyri and Reykjavík (Landspítali) have separate wards for receiving victims of sexual violence. Stígamót and its sister organisations in the north of the country and in the West Fjords offer counselling and support.

Stígamót offers advice and support to victims of sexual violence, as well as consultation and self-help groups. Stígamót also offers information on legal rights.


Suspicion of incest or other violence against children must be reported to 112, no matter where it is in Iceland.
