For individuals, single parents, and low-income families who have difficulties supporting themselves and their dependants financially, counselling and assistance is available from public and private organisations.

It is possible to make an appointment or to receive assistance by telephone from 9:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 15:00 every weekday. Foreigners who have trouble with Icelandic can arrange for a meeting assisted by an interpreter. Interpreters can be ordered from interpreter agencies and the Debt Advisory Service will pay the cost of the interpreter.

On Wednesdays from 14:00 to 17:00, food and clothing are distributed to low-income, single parents supporting children, at Sólvallargata 48. Telephone calls are answered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 12:00 to 16:00. Clothing, foodstuffs and other donations are accepted.

The Association is open Monday-Thursday, 10:00 - 16:00. Among other things, it offers single parents emergency housing (located in the Skeljanes area of Reykjavík), various study grants, free legal assistance, and social work. Its services are available in both Icelandic and English.
