An international organisation that grants support and assistance to individuals who are struggling with alcohol problems. Meetings are held throughout much of the country and are conducted in Icelandic and English. Informational material is available in English, Icelandic and Polish. The organisation’s office is open from 11-16:00.

The office is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-13:00. Al-Anon Family Groups are formed of relatives and friends of alcoholics so that they can share their experiences, support and hopes in order to overcome their mutual problems. Meetings are held in Icelandic in many places throughout the country. Individuals can form groups and receive informational material from Al-Anon in various languages.

SAA runs a detoxification and rehabilitation clinic for alcoholics and drug addicts, as well as an outpatient unit. Support is offered for friends and relatives, and SAA also carries on extensive prevention work. SAA operates in Reykjavík and has a centre in Akureyri. Its website is in English and Icelandic.
